RingCentral
RingCentral Review Detail:
RingCentral is our #2 pick. RingCentral provides an expanded list of features with their RingCentral Mobile product, and their pricing makes it affordable for professionals, home offices, and small businesses. If you are considering RingCentral, you should also read our review of their close competitor Phone.com Virtual Office, however.
RingCentral Likes:
Unlimited Minutes on RingCentral Office Plans: RingCentral converted their top two plans to what they are calling “RingCentral Office”. With these new plans you get a fully functional, feature rich small office system that includes unlimited minutes and unlimited faxing anwhere in the US or Canada, for those customers that heavy calling needs. It also includes fully pre-configured VoIP Phones, and all the features you’d expext in a small office phone system. This now creates a true small business phone system that is affordable for even the small business or home office! RingCentral is also including a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee on RingCentral Office, so that you can be confident in your purchase!
Feature Rich: RingCentral offers an extensive and comprehensive list of features.
No Charge to Transfer 800 or Local Numbers: RingCentral doesn’t charge a fee to tranfer your existing 800 or local number, where other vendors charge a one time fee per phone number to transter.
Integrated Real-Time Call Controller: This feature allows you to turn your PC into a call center command center. You can easily answer or screen incoming calls, send them to voice mail, transfer to another extension, disconnect or even monitor voice messages as they are being left and pick up only the ones you want to talk to. You can even prompt the caller to speak their name and it will be played via your PC speakers.
Click to Call/Ring Me Web buttons: RingCentral and Phone.com are the only two vendors that offer this functionality. You can add a button to your website to easily allow your visitors to call you directly from their PC.
Microsoft Office & Outlook Integration: RingCentral integrates with Microsoft Outlook, so you can place calls directly from Outlook with RingOut click-to-call dialing, receive faxes in your Outlook inbox and use fax numbers stored in Outlook Contacts to send a fax. You can also fax directly from Microsoft Office® applications such as Microsoft Word®, Excel® and PowerPoint®.
RingCentral 0ffice Grows As Your Business Does: Ringcentral office offiers 3 plans ranging from 1 line to 8 lines. But it doesn’t stop with only 8 lines. Ringcentral office offers the ability to grow with you as your company grows, by allowing you to add additional lines for only $24.99/line. Each RingCentral Office plan comes with:
- A business phone system – including discounted Linksys IP phones
- Unlimited* calling and faxing anywhere in the US and Canada
- Unlimited* calls and faxes to your local numbers
- 1 toll-free or local main company number
- 1 toll-free or local fax number
- 1 local number per user
- 24/7 customer support
RingCentral Dislikes:
Dial by Name Directory Charge on their Professional Plan: this is probably really picky, and most likely a little used feature for true professionals with fewer than 6 extensions anyway, however we’d like to see them drop the $4.99/mo charge and follow their competitors lead on this one.
100 voicemail limit: Currently RingCentral has a 100 voicemail storage limit, per extension. Again, this probably won’t be an issue for most people using the system, but something to be aware of.
1 Incoming Line on Most Plans(except RingCentral Office): You have to upgrade to thier RingCentral Office 4 line plan to automatically get more than one incoming line. This can be a problem for businesses who want both an Toll Free number and a local number but don’t necessarily need 4 uers/local lines. They will have to pay either the $4.99 or $24.99 fee to get the additional local line. Most of their competitors include at least 1 additional line with their small business plans.
$2.99 Fee to Add Extensions to RingCentral Mobile Plans: With their top 2 competitors(Phone.com and Grasshopper) now going to unlimited extensions, be aware that if you want to add extensions over and above the standard for each plan, with RingCentral you will pay a $2.99 each, per month, fee to get them. The only exception to this is with the RingCentral Office plans, where you get unlimited extensions. It may not be a big issue for most, but something to be aware of.
Customer Support: Unfortunately they are not one of the most responsive providers and some of their support rep’s may not be as knowledgeable as you would hope to expect. Communication issues can be an issue when trying to correspond with their off-shore support team. We feel this is the biggest area that RingCentral needs to improve upon, and a main reason for not being #1 in our ratings.
RingCentral Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a stable, market leading partner that offers a very wide range of desireable features at good price points, then RingCentral is a great option. Just be aware that some customers have reported issues with customer service.
In addition, if you have heavy calling needs, and are looking for a plan that includes business class IP phones, then you will definitely want to check out the RingCentral Office plans with Unlimited Minutes and IP phones standard on both plans. These RingCentral Office plans are perfect for most small business needs, and best of all – affordable at only $24.99/user!
